Taking Action to Prevent Litter and Flytipping in Fife

Fife Council is working in partnership with Zero Waste Scotland on a new initiative to tackle litter and flytipping and reduce its impact on the community.  
 
Each year over 15,000 tonnes of litter are discarded in Scotland. This has a substantial impact on Scotland’s environment, economy and communities, and dealing with litter and flytipping costs more than £50 million a year in public money or around £1 million pounds per week. Our local economy and businesses also suffer from the effects of litter.

Winners of Social Enterprise Awards Scotland 2017 announced


The winners of Scotland’s annual awards for innovation and success in social enterprise have been announced at an event in The Scottish Parliament.
 
The winner of Social Enterprise of the Year is the Grassmarket Community Project in Edinburgh, Social Enterprise Champion was awarded to Chris Martin of Callander Youth Project and the One to Watch winner is Projekt 42.
Social Enterprise Scotland issued a call for applications earlier in the year, urging Scotland’s innovative social enterprises to demonstrate how they’re improving our economy and society.

Event to teach NE Fife firms how to avoid risk of €20m GDPR fines

People doing business in North-East Fife are being invited to a November 22 event where they can learn how to ensure they don’t incur fines of up to €20 million or more when the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force next May.
