Babcock collaborate in Caledonia Liquefied Natural Gas Project

Bringing its award-winning innovation and extensive international experience, partner Babcock International Group will collaborate with ExxonMobil, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), Calor and Orkney Islands Council in the “Caledonia LNG” project.

The partners recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to investigate opportunities to supply LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) for marine and land-based applications.

Trisent secures funding to develop a self writing diary app

Trisent, Fife-based start-up software company, has secured a £99,370 SMART: SCOTLAND Feasibility grant through Scottish Enterprise to develop a unique self writing diary that runs on a mobile phone.

The lifestyle app market is worth $4.4 billion and Trisent's funding will be used to develop and test beta version of their diary app that runs in the background of mobile phones and automatically publishes your daily diary without you having to lift a finger.

Support Small Business Saturday - 3 Dec 16

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.

In 2016 Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday, December 3rd.

Record Numbers Seek Assistance from Business Gateway

The number people visiting Business Gateway’s website reached its highest ever level in 2015/16.

For the annual period ending March 2016, 607,887 people visited www.bgateway.com to access a range of business support information, a rise of 16% on the previous year. The number of page views registered increased to 2.29 million, a 36% rise on the 2014/15 figure. Both figures indicate that an increasing number of Scottish businesses see the service as an important source of business information.

Electronics firm’s vision for Fife medical technology hub

A young Fife company making impressive progress in sub-contract electronic manufacturing believes the region can have a bright future as a  medical technology hub.

John Cramb and Gavin Howe set up Bay Solutions Scotland in in 2013, at a premises in Dalgety Bay. Applying their 50 years of design and management experience in electronics manufacturing, their business made a turnover of £92,000 in the first year. Orders poured in and the 2016 revenue grew to £482,000 with a pre-tax profit of £90,000.
